The social media dilemma (A short insight)

It's a forceful thing that ruins the joy of exploring the Internet as a whole...

It has been a struggle in social media where finding where to settle becomes more like a job than something you join because you like it. Most notably, the recent Twitter's Terms of Service that declares the usage of media for training their AI "Grok". Because of this, the artists of twitter had decided to seek out for Bluesky to settle. Many people have proven it to be a futile attempt, due to the reputation of Twitter being the powerhouse of advertisement and promotion. But I think such depression is unnecessary, and that is speaking from someone with a lot of pessimism in his brain.

Making a backup account is a good thing, despite what you are using it for, there's no shame in doing it, and there's no point listening to people saying "You'll come back to Twitter anyway, it's not worth a shot". Yeah, and? People already know that ever since they made the move, hence they have Sky Follower Bridge to maintain communication to Twitter. "Let people have fun" was what I thought about the whole situation, because if you can take a peep at what was happening over Bluesky, people were rejoicing, having fun, saying crap to Elon Musk, posting art, disregarding everything else in life. They were having fun, and that's all it matters.

But deep within, migrating to Bluesky was more like a job, like being forced to do so because the ol' Twitter is plagued, than joining it because it's different and cool. The main objective has always been "avoiding elon doing fucked up shit", and it saddens me to see that. I had wished doing something on the internet nowadays was for the sake of exploring the wonders of the net, not to escape from a broken site, or to argue with strangers and hate on each other all the time.

Be kind to people who wished to stay on Twitter, they have to do so to prevent themselves from multitasking across multiple platforms (they have too damn many art posting accounts already, they don't need a 10th social media to work their ass on rebuilding their profile), and also because of the better promotion on Twitter. Only time can tell when Twitter will legitimately succumb and cease to be the powerhouse of self-promotion.

Until then, the social media dilemma will persist, in fact, it has been persisting since Skype was dead and Discord was born, maybe even further than that. This time though, the dilemma might drag on even further, as Twitter is global, and there's no escaping it. I mean this as something becoming global is never pretty. I fear this fate will fall upon Bluesky, as it comprises mostly of Twitter Exodus, and not of any new and strange communities coming over. I just hope that this Exodus might not attract the unwanted guests into the site.

P/s: I have been storing posts like these in notes ever since last year so don't be surprised if my blogs are posted daily. I'll probably pause when there's no more blogs in the storage.
